This was just one small part of a big birthday road trip that we did for Theons First birthday; traveling from Bolton-London and stopping off in Wales, Bristol and Devon along the way. However, our long weekend at Whitehill was by far the most relaxing part of the stay-cay we had. Glamping was the perfect way to spend our two, free days out of a very hectic two week holiday.
We stayed in one of the parks four Glamping Pods; small but perfectly formed huts. The pods are basically a campers upgrade, with Theon being so young we hadn’t wanted to risk taking on the great British weather and being cold and miserable in a tent. The Pods are heated, with plug sockets and wifi and come fully equipped for a great nights sleep with bedding and two double inter-changeable mattresses that can be two beds or a bed and a couch. Each set on decking with table and chairs facing out over the beautifully set country park.
A stay at Whitehill includes access to all the onsite facilities including its fabulous, heated outdoor pool with kiddies splash area, as well as it’s club house, laundry room, cafe and multiple (very well maintained) shower blocks, with family bathrooms.
“With a backdrop of rolling South Devon hills and surrounded by nature and private woodland trails Whitehill Country Park is the perfect countryside retreat.”
I wish we could have stopped longer but, we had people to see and places to be, namely T’s joint first birthday party with his cousin Huxley in London. I’ve got to tell you though Whitehill was a game changer; they had everything covered, even the weather it seemed. Beautiful views, heated pool, woods craft classes to name but a few and all a stones throw from the Devonshire coastline.
A perfectly great, first British holiday, with everything all the family could want from romantic views and seafood restaurants for mum and dad to fair rides and traditional seaside pier walks.
With Yianni being Greek we spend a lot of time sunning ourselves on Grecian beaches, but each journey back takes a lot of preparation, time and organisation. It was really nice to be able to just pack up the car and that holiday feeling start the minute we hit the road. Yianni particularly liked exploring the English coastline with it’s own iconic traditions. It might not have been Frappe’s and Kalamari, but who doesn’t love Fish ‘n’ chips and a good cup of Charlie!?
Every step we took was a perfectly snapable, postcard moment, to put into Theons first year memory book. And what glorious memories we made! We can’t wait to go back.
