If you’re looking for a Sunday roast alternative, gyro fries are the perfect go to. This week with a hectic work schedule, I didn’t manage to get a grocery order in, in time to have Sunday roast supplies. So, with the last of yesterdays chops and whatever veg we had left in the fridge/freezer I made an English Roast dinner alternative, with a Greek twist.
Ingredients
To make your gyro fries you will need:
2 x sweet potatoes
4 x garlic cloves
Confession I’ve used a bag of frozen chip shop style chips
Salt & Extra Virgin Olive oil
2 x roasted pork chops
Method

peel and thickly slice the sweet potatoes and mix into a roasting tin with the garlic, salt and oil. Roast in the oven for 20-30 mins at 180 degC.
Whilst the sweet potatoes are roasting take your pre-cooked pork chops and chop them up as finely as possibly.
Once the sweet potatoes are soft add in your chips and chop bits. Sprinkle over the gyro mix and toss all the ingredient so that the sweet potatoes get fluffed and the chips become coated in all the seasoning and pork bits. Add another glug of oil, before putting back into the over for another 20-25 minutes.
Serving Suggestion
I served our gyro fries with maple glazed carrots, peas and yorkies. All drowned in lashings of proper, dirty gravy!
