Halloween Movies For Kids: Top 5 On Disney

Halloween Movies for Kids

Looking for kid friendly hallowe’en flicks? Look no further! We can’t wait to share our all time classic Disney halloween movies for kids. Because let’s face it Halloween and Disney were never needed more, right? To save you time we’ve compiled a list of our favourite Halloween movies for kids, all found on Disney plus. You’re welcome! It was hard work but someone had to do it. Side note, this is NOT an AD or paid review, we just blummin’ love a good Hallowe’en film!

Halloween Movies for Kids Top Spot: Hocus Pocus

Growing up in the UK in the 90’s there wasn’t really a huge choice of Hallowe’en movies for kids. Back then Hallowe’en had only really begun to it’s intro into Europe. But our all time favourite out of all the halloween movies for kids that we’ve watched as a family will always be Hocus Pocus! Rated PG, Hocus Pocus is a firm favourite from my own childhood. Originally released in 1993. This Disney classic stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Thora Birch to name but a few. And it’s the movie we watch as a family every Hallow’s eve. Hocus Pocus 2 is due to drop on Disney Plus at the end of Sept 2022.

A 2014 American fantasy film starring Angelina Jolie. Maleficent is rated M and so not suitable for children under the age of 13. I had low expectations for this movie as I’m not a Jolie fan. But, I really enjoyed it and found Maleficent 2 equally as good.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas was originally going to be released by Walt Disney Pictures. However, despie being rated PG Disney decided to release the film under its adult film label, Touchstone Pictures. The studio thought the film would be too dark and scary for kids. And yet growing up my siblings and I needed no excuse to watch it! For me despite not having a primary colour pallet this is most definitely a movie for kids. Tim Burton’s imagination has everything you could want to keep kids locked in and entertained. From the vibrant musical sound track to the silly characters and awesome stop motion filming.

One of Theon’s (aged 4) all time faves; Coco. A 2017 3D computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

What I particularly loved about this animation was the way in which it approached death. Surprisingly despite the topic and theme of the movie it was anything but scary. This movie is rated PG.

Escape To Witch Mountain

The original, staring Kim Richards (yep one of the “real housewives”) was released in 1975. As an adult it is a great nostalgic movie. However, for older kids I’d probably recommend the 1995 remake ‘Race To Witch Mountain’ with The Rock. Both versions are rated G.
