It’s world book day on March 7th. A day that can put fear into any parent, who’s only just found out the night before! But sharing is caring and outfits need not cost an arm and a leg or involve you needing a textile degree. Here’s our 2019 World Book Day outfit inspo run down.
The Tiger That Came To Tea
Written and illustrated by Judith Kerr.
What we used:
•Black eye liner from mum’s make-up bag
•Orange and black clothes; whatever we could find that was tiger coloured and/or themed
•Tiger ears; ours are from London Zoo (£5), but you could also buy Tigger ones from the Disney store or have a go at making a paper plate tiger mask.
Harry Potter
Written by J.K. Rowling.
Ok, ok so, for this one we cheated a little. But, not everyone has time to craft or delve into the underworld that is your kids wardrobe to mix and match a costume. Although, in all honesty this one is basically your kids school uniform with a wizardly shoush! However, at £8 an outfit from George at Asda these Hogwarts costume are an absolute steal!
The Tales Of Peter Rabbit
Written by Beatrix Potter.
Another easy one and great for a last minute run around! You will need:
•A blue cardi
•Bunny ears (click pic above for free rabbit ears print off)
•Carrots
Daisy Saves The Day
Written by Shirley Hughes.
Now we raided this outfit from the Ordsall hall dress up box. But, both the bonnet and apron could easily be made (without any sewing). Just simply by cutting up a plain white sheet.
The Little Prince
Written by Antione se Sainte-Exupery.
What you’ll need:
•Red or blue cape
•Formal or regal clothing, we used a top from H&M check out their world book day inspiration pages.
And They All Lived Happily Ever After
Ultimately I found the best ideas came from the books that Theon loved. As it didn’t matter how I dressed him or the effort put in as long as he felt excited about what he was representing!

Some great ideas here! We love any excuse to dress up! This year Oliver has a Gruffalo outfit, and this weekend I will be working on Isla’s ‘Room on the Broom’ outfit. Thanks for linking up with #KidsandKreativity hope to see you back next time x
Aw that’s fantastic!
Homemade costumes are so much better than shop bought ones in my opinion! It’s great because the kids can get involved with making them too. We did tweedle dee/dum last year! Thanks for the inspo #KidsandKreativity
Definitely! Wow that sounds awesome. Although, after making Theon’s Jedi Hallowe’en costume last year I’m a bit sewed out! Hopefully these ideas are a bit more accessible to everyone.
